Pauline
This case was featured as a “Masterpiece” in the journal Quintessence of Dental Technology (QDT), an international publication “devoted to the most brilliant solutions to clinical cases and to new theories for esthetic and technological dental rehabilitation.”
Pauline came to us with failing upper bridgework and a lower partial denture that she did not like. Careful planning and implant placement allowed Dr. Smith to create a beautiful porcelain restoration for all of her upper teeth that is permanently fixed in place. She now has fixed implant crowns in the lower jaw instead of a partial denture.
Bernie
For Bernie, a combination of crowns on natural teeth and implants were used to restore his dentition. He began with removable partial dentures that had been poorly relined, and his teeth did not follow a natural smile contour. His final restoration enhances Bernie’s winning smile.
Sue
Sue was tired of the movement of her dentures. 4 implants in the upper jaw and 5 in the lower jaw allow her dentures to be fully supported by implants. The upper denture is removable and incorporates a flange under the lip to recreate fullness. The lower denture is fixed in place and has no flange to allow hygiene around the implants.
Bonnie – Implants & Dentures
A removable upper denture and a fixed lower denture on 5 implants was made for Bonnie. She presented with overgrown gum and bone tissue and only a few remaining lower teeth. The bone had gotten so large that she was no longer able to wear her 30-year-old denture. She now has the stability of implants and loves the way her teeth look when she smiles.
Carlos – Full Mouth Restoration
Carlos is an extraordinarily severe grinder. By the age of 40 he had worn away more than 60% of his tooth height. A full mouth reconstruction was needed to restore what was worn away. Crowns were placed on all of his teeth. A combination of porcelain and metal was used for his front teeth – porcelain for the visible surfaces and metal for the chewing surfaces. A gold-platinum-palladium alloy was used for his back teeth to withstand the tremendous forces that his jaw muscles could generate.
Cynthia – Crowns, Implants, Partial Dentures
In Cynthia’s case, a combination of crowns and implants was used in the upper jaw. An implant retained partial denture replaces the back teeth in the lower jaw and eliminates the need for metal clasps.
